The paper is focused on investigation of electrochemical stability and antibacterial activity of an example of a bionic film as hydroxiapatite on titanium. The electrochemical stability was tested in Canivet solution, performing as procedures open circuit potential, Tafel plots and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. All results have been compared with data obtained for titanium mechanically polished. The antibacterial activity was evaluated using E. coli ATCC 25922, 25922, as a Gram negative bacillus, and S. aureus ATCC 6538 as a positive bacteria in the frame of a turbidimetric method. The determinations of contact angles sustain the strong hydrophilic character of the coating. Knowing that hydrophilic surface induces a better cell growth, the results recommend the coating for implant applications.
