In this paper, the PES-g-PMBA membrane was prepared by gamma-ray irradiation-induced grafting reaction in a homogenous solution. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) confirmed the effectiveness of the graft reaction and the formation of polyether sulfone grafted poly (N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide) (PES-g-PMBA) copolymer. The micro-surface and cross-section structure of the membrane was analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), and too high a grafting rate might lead to the destruction of the membrane structure. The results of the contact angle (CA) measurement showed that the CA of the PES-g-PMBA membrane decreased significantly compared with the pristine PES membrane, indicating that the hydrophilicity of the membrane was improved. The test results of permeability, filtration, and anti-fouling performance show that the PES-g-PMBA membrane has good filtration and anti-fouling effects on bovine serum albumin (BSA) aqueous solution, and the rejection rate and flux recovery rate are maintained at a high level.
