The flexibility of Qube allows almost indefinite adaptation to user needs. For example, one might want to exchange the intracellular solution (IC) during an experiment. To illustrate this we changed all of the IC during hERG recordings and replenished half the columns with the original solution and the other half with an IC devoid of K+. The left panel shows the hERG current before the IC exchange. The right panel shows the preservation respectively abolishment of the hERG current in alternating columns as a result of exchanging the IC.

Stockholm and Munich February 5, 2015 – Biolin Scientific Holding AB, Sweden and Nanion Technologies GmbH, Germany today announce that the parties have entered into a licensing agreement. Biolin Scientific has agreed to grant a non-exclusive license for the key patent related to performing multi-hole, high-throughput ion channel screening to Nanion Technologies in exchange for an undisclosed license fee. The non-exclusive license will provide Nanion Technologies with freedom to operate for the entire life time of the patents.

Dublin City University published a new paper on selective inhibitors of neuronal Kv1 channels.
Selective inhibitors of voltage-activated K+ channels are needed for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. In this work it was discovered that porphyrins bearing 2–4 carbon alkyl ammonium side chains predominantly blocked the Kv1.1 current whilst Kv1.2 was susceptible to a porphyrin bearing polyamine side chains.
