The QSense Explorer Extreme Temperature has a different measurement chamber than other QSense Explorer systems. This chamber is specifically designed for extreme temperatures and can perform QCM-D measurements from 4-150°C with high precision.
The available temperature range of 4-150°C*, enables extensive characterization of the temperature dependence of material properties, including phase transitions, film degradation, shrinkage, swelling, and changes in viscoelasticity. This enables closer studies of surface coatings, polymer films and brushes and nanocomposite materials. The High Temperature Chamber is also suitable for characterization of surface interaction processes such as molecular uptake/release, conformational changes, detergent and surfactant efficiency, and sedimentation of oil-based products.
*Note that an exterior heater/cooler aid is required to reach temperatures below RT and above RT +60 °C
